- Camping requires a Recreation.gov reservation. The campground operates seasonally until the first significant snowfall, and the upper scenic drive is closed to single vehicles or trailers longer than 24 feet.

- The upper nine miles of Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive are generally open June through October, weather permitting. The campground can close as early as September when winter weather arrives.
